[ In honour of the god centering on love being a giant frilly prissypants, Loki sends his own little gift just a few hours after hers.
His box of chocolate will look, smell, and taste exactly like Freya's did, appearing right next to where Freya's was or is if you haven't picked it up yet. The only difference between the two is that Loki's won't lift your mood; it'll give you loud and embarrassing flatulence for the next three hours.
It's also accompanied by a note. ]
Where joy might bring about yearning, it also welcomes wonder.
Elrond? Forgive me for disturbing you so late - someone, our patrons I assume, has seen fit to leave me a bottle of Dorwinion. I... would you be free to come and share it, sometime?
(ooc: hiyo =D or, if you prefer he's got an OTA comment in the event log)
[OOC: Hiiiiii I need to drag myself out of whatever funk I'm in with this game >.<]
[The reply comes a little later, as Elrond's been doing his share of mourning. For the most part, he's been lost amongst books since his arrival. Lost...]
Place your heart at ease, the hour does not matter. I would enjoy sharing it with you. Would you prefer I come to you?
[OOC: <3 pft I should probably stick myself on hiatus buuuuuuuut...haven't....lol HOW'S WEDDING PREP GOING/HOW'D IT GO?]
[The light teasing manages to get a soft little chuckle (likely Maglor's goal and he's grateful to him for it) and a small smile enters the tone of voice. He'd have found the library regardless.]
I have spoken with Master Irving. I would not mind meeting him in person.
I am pleased to hear that. I will come to you, if you but tell me where to go. [Though he doesn't mind if Maglor wishes him to literally try hunting him down. It'll give him something to focus on other than memory.]
[ A hunt! Maglor hasn't played this since the twins were young - he slips down into the main hall to leave a few clues, but he makes this much harder than he ever did in their childhood - Elrond is a lord in his own right now, and a veteran of war ]
[The last thing he'd hunted were Orcs, so another elf is a delight...And his father makes it far too easy by leaving those clues. Elrond finds and studies each in turn, delighting in the extra challenge along the way. But, inevitably, he pauses outside Maglor's door and knocks lightly. It really didn't take him that long. Proud, daddy dearest?]
[ Hey, he left a red herring or two! But he isn't exactly trying to hide, this is true... The door opens to a smiling Maglor - Asgard has been remarkably good to him (despite all his injuries and death), and having Elrond here has done much to improve his mood, even with the recent memorial ceremony. He is, in fact, still nursing injuries from the last attack, which Elrond is free to notice - ribs and a sprained wrist and ankle ]
Mae govannen, yonya. Come in! Master Irving is out, presently.
[OOC: aww....You'll kick that photoshop ass! XD Oh oh oh! Elrond's gift is an elvish blade~ XD So he'll find that whenever he stumbles 'home'.]
[Red herrings won't fool him! Though they were more amusing than annoying. And serves to lighten his mood enough by the time he reaches that door. Even better for seeing Maglor.]
Nae saian luume.
[He steps in as invited, ducking his head a little in respect to the house, and looks around. Along with at Maglor, noting those injuries.]
Perhaps he'll only be out a little longer. In the mean time, will you allow me to examine your wounds?
[Because tending Maglor's injuries are more important to Elrond than anything else. He'll not chastise the older elf for not mentioning them to him before (or at all) as at least he wasn't hiding them from him.]
( ooc: oooh shiny~! I should. Set up a log for the Citadel lol - they can spar a bit maybe, and Maglor is supposed to be training Alice the Elder in knifework )
[ The room is surprisingly neat - Brax is always tidy, and in deference Maglor has tried to do the same, although the pile of manuscripts by his bed betrays him. There are already three glasses set out next to the bottle of Dorwinion ]
They are nothing serious - one of the healers here had a quick look, earlier. [ but Maglor offers no more than that token protest - he knows Elrond won't rest until he's had a look ]
I hope so - he was going out to the radio station, I believe, but I know not how long he is planning on staying out - he sometimes works quite late there.
[ the wrist and ankle are sprained, the wrist moreso, but both are healing well. The ribs, on the other hand - three on the left are broken, and Maglor has started to develop a cough due to splinting them all the time. He's also got some nasty burns on his back that Elrond may find if he looks, but those are also healing, as well as burns on his left hand which match the shape of a sword-hilt (lesson learnt: do not swing at storm spirits with a metal weapon) ]
[OOC: Yes! That'd be lovely! Elrond would be happy to help if they want him to. :) I'm getting ready to write up Elrond's first network post right now actually. XD Basically reacting to having a sword from home and apologizing for being invisible/kind of distracted since his arrival. Oops?]
[The tidiness of the room has the younger elf suspicious of just why, though he holds his opinions to himself. He knows you, Maglor. Though the pile of scrolls by the bed reassures him this really is where his foster father lives. The mild protests earn nothing more than a raised brow as Elrond gently pushes Maglor over to the bed for the careful examination. Just because his elvish magic is gone (a fact he learned the hard way and woke up a while later for having attempted) doesn't mean he can't do anything at all.]
They have been well tended, though you must take more care or you shall never heal entirely.
[And what he thinks of that should be clear in his expression. He wants Maglor well, uninjured, and that meant taking better care of himself. Even if he knows the other elf will continue to do as he felt was necessary.]
I'll see about making something for easing that cough, as you won't let off the splints.
[ it probably helps that Maglor isn't IN much - Brax tends to have to drag him home after he spends time not-sleeping in the Park ]
Doctor Watson, it was. He had steady hands and a good manner - you would like him, I think. He runs a clinic here.
[ the comment about the splints gets a sheepish shrug ] I move better with them on. If its herbs you need, I think there is a shop run by one Castiel. Also, I have athelas, although its virtue is much reduced, here.
[It certainly does. Not that Elrond can complain, as he's very much like his foster father in that regard.]
I will keep that in mind for later, yes.
[He'll certainly have to thank the man for being good to Maglor. Elrond sets to work on wrapping more bandages back around the injuries, making note of each bit of information Maglor gives.]
I will be sure to speak with Castiel. Even reduced, it should work well enough, though slower.
I have a small bush of it growing on the sill by the window [ Maglor nods towards where a Sandy-gifted shrub is happily growing in a pot and tries not to move as his ribs are jostled ]
It seems to do little here beyond act as a calming tea, sadly. You were unharmed in the recent attack?
[A very good calming tea that has magical skills. He can wish. Elrond casts a wry half smile at Maglor's clear concern.]
A little puzzled for why I am so blocked from using our kin's natural ability, but no worse for wear. It is simply an adjustment I will have to make to help those here.
[For he refuses to allow himself to dwell on if his reduced skills will fail to help enough. He's had practice, after all.]
[ Maglor is no healer so he will have to take Elrond at his word, and he nods in acceptance and moves to pour the wine ]
They say they block our natural skills here for our safety and health - I know not how accurate that is, but there was apparently some bad effects the one time some received back their natural abilities. I was fortunate, I suppose - Lord Freyr's gifts are very similar to that which I am already familiar with - Bardic Influence may do much which any skilled minstrel in our lands knows, and yet it is limited all the same.
[ He cannot hear the Song, Elrond. Until the flowers today, he has been unable to hear any of the voices he knows - doubtless it is as bad for Elrond too, he supposes ]
I think you will do well, yonya, in whatsoever you turn your hand to. But I am glad that you will continue your work here. [ not that he doubted that you would, really ]
[OOC: WE'RE GETTING CELEBRIAN NEXT APP CYCLE!!!! AND SHE'LL BE FROM A WEEK AFTER THE WEDDING /dying XD So you know what Elrond will be coming to Maglor for, riiiiight? And and and a Galadriel might follow in June or so. And and and maybe another castmate but the mun's not decided who yet (MAYBE CELEGORM)]
[The distraction of the wine was welcome, and the information was equally appreciated. Elrond follows, grateful that at least one of them had some sort of access to their skills from home. Even if he also could not hear the whispers of nature, beyond the hints from today.
He tips his head at the compliment, as earnest and true as it was.]
I will fight if I have to. Otherwise, I far prefer the path of healing. Here...I have a new skill I am practicing controlling - that of ice.
(ooc: EXCITED SCREECHING!!! Oh dear Maglor will need to petition for more wine XD XD XD I am still poking Kevin-mun who has a Maedhros muse ...in which case, it will be ELROND who needs to be the emotional support ahaha there will be punching... Celegorm will also get wept on... and maybe punched XD )
Ice? That may become quite useful - the Fire Giants were driven back, but they may yet return. I have taken employment at the Citadel, teaching others to fight. [ Maglor admits quietly ] If war must come, then I would rather those here can defend themselves. I am out of practice, however. [ care for a spar, son? ]
[OOC: /cackling/ I told her you'd screech. And yes, more wine will be needed lol oh oh oh oh! Yes! Maedhros yes pleeeaaase! lol all the mutual emotional support!]
[Elrond studies him at the admission, hands absently clasped at his waist. That can't be easy for what Maglor wanted to do, but this place...]
(ooc: my standard excited response is screeching, this is true. eeeee Tolkien casts always make me excited, I hope they make it!)
[ Maglor looks up sharply from his glass - Elrond is a healer, having left the battlefields behind long ago ]
I would not refuse it. [ he could always use the help ] But only if you are certain. [ Maglor, of course, would prefer Elrond was no where near the front lines... ]
[OOC: It's a good response~ And I'm sure Bri will make it in, just hoping she can keep up with the game (though I don't think that'll be an issue lol) The app's already done. >.>]
[He knows the reason for that sharp look, and responds with a faint smile and slight nod.]
Then it will be. While I have left battlefields behind, I have continued to go on patrol. My skills are not as lacking as one might think. [Not a barb to Maglor at all, simply a comment.]
(ooc: *happy bouncing* I must get around to getting a plurk, obviously lots of exciting things happen on there)
[ Maglor sighs a little - half proud and half sad - he knows Elrond is good, he wouldn't have survived the Last Alliance else, but even so... ]
I would have preferred that you never needed a blade at all, but that was never your fate. [ as horrible as it was, watching the Last Ship sail, at least he had the comfort of knowing Elrond was going to a place where he would hopefully never need to fight again ]
[ Maglor reaches up to grip that hand briefly - Elrond is alive, and he is here, he reminds himself - this is blessing unasked for and full welcome, and it is enough without wishing for more ]
[Alive, well, and joyful to see Maglor again. Elrond let his hand linger, accepting the grip and understanding the reason behind it. Understood, and returned it. Maglor was no longer hiding from him.
Happiness...His gaze shifts a little, holding just a hint of sorrow for losses, even if some he will regain within time. He pushes wishes aside gently, back to where they belong and live in his heart.]
[ Maglor considers - how much does he know that he can safely say? ]
I know your sons ride on errantry often, and your daughter walks in the likeness of Luthien.
[ He also knows Elrond leaves all of them behind when he goes to Celebrian, but since he hasn't lived that bit yet, Maglor will keep it quiet. If the twins have occasionally made it home with stories of narrow shaves they are still not entirely sure how luck favored them, well. Maglor wouldn't know anything about that, of course not. ]
[Naturally Maglor's paid close enough attention to know of his children. Meaning he also probably knows of Celebrian's departure. Meaning he won't have to speak of that which he simply does not speak of. Just knowing that releases some of the tension he'd hardly been aware of, replaced by the usual pride of his family.]
None of which have changed. They are all well, and young Elessar is growing swiftly.
[No real surprise, the youth would grow swift and strong, skilled. Or as strong as any man could now be. He has hopes for the boy, but...Only time would tell.]
[ Maglor has always watched the ships leaving, dreading the day he would see someone he knows - so yes, he knows what happened to Celebrian. ]
Your young human child. [ Maglor nods with a smile - he knows the end to that story, and anticipates Elrond's joy (as well as his grief) to reach it ] And how to the twins and your daughter cope with having a young one around Imladris once more?
