[ Ohdear. Elrond mostly pauses when he receives this message because...well. Because. He needs a moment to gather himself for that. ]

[ Likely one of the parks...away from where innocent passersby won't stumble upon them. ]

[He gives him a smile and a wave as well as an ETA before hanging up, keeping to his word and going straight home. Where Elrond will get to see he literally used some cord to tie the sword into the sheathe so it couldn't come out easily. Reckless is definitely not a part of his nature.]

[Baiyi is really surprised he's doing this. It's something he never has done before but everyone who is worth anything knows this routine. While he doesn't tend to care about traditions, being polite, or other such things, this.. this was different. He needs to do this right.

He comes alone with the finest bottle of wine he can find and knocks on the front door of the Elven household. And yes, he actually waits instead of marching right in. Sigh.. living in polite society is so tedious.]

[ Some things simply must be done a certain way. Elrond knows this himself.

The knock makes him pause in setting groceries away, then sets the last item in place before moving to answer it. He raises a brow curiously at the man he sees before him, puzzling over how solid and yet not the other feels. Not an Elf, or a Maia, and yet somehow still very human. ]

Yes? How may I help you?

[ The wine hints that this might not be a request for healing. ]

[Baiyi nods his head, not quite a bow but close.]

Are you Elrond, foster father of the young man Riley, or Maedhros?

[He’s heard both names, but Elrond more frequently and obviously this is not Maglor.]

[ He notices the lack of asking if he's Maglor - someone known to that Elf and Riley? It would seem so. He inclines his head briefly. ]

I am Elrond.

[ A touch of worry crosses his expression. But only a little, for the bottle of wine hints this isn't a plea for a healer. A gift? Or an apology? Or something else entirely? ]

Has something happened to young Riley?

[At least, in his opinion it's nothing bad. How this man feels about things could be entirely different.]

[ Lips almost quirk before he masks his amusement. ]

Since you are excellent at reassurance, yes. Come in.

[ He steps out of the way with a flourish of an arm of invitation. Sarcasm? Elrond? Noooooooooo. ]

[Baiyi manages not to say something rude back- see he's sort of behaving?- and steps inside the home. He glances around with what appears to be mild interest before his gaze returns to his host.]

[ Just as Elrond hasn't simply booted Ye Baiyi out. They're doing great! He leads the way to a cozy sitting room and invites the man to take a seat. Only then does he glance at the wine again at the explanation.

Another wants to take a child of his away - but he can't allow himself to think that, can he? He sits back without taking the wine. ]

I see. And what exactly are these intentions that only a bottle of wine would be suitable recompense?
